Hobby-Philosophie

Als ich zur Schule ging, gabs Pirsigs Zen oder die Kunst, ein Motorrad zu warten. Nun gibts: Craig Bourne: Philosophical ridings : motorcycles and the meaning of life (Oxford : Oneworld, 2007). Klappentext: "To be a biker is to be on the road to the meaning of life". "From ethics to existentialism, motorcycling raises some of life's biggest questions. What should our attitutde be towards danger and death? Does riding shed any light on the nature of reality?"
Während mir in der Tat scheint, dass die erste Frage einem schon manchmal beim Fahrradfahren durch den Kopf gehen kann, sehe ich nicht so recht, wie das Fahren die zweite Frage motiviert. Ist aber auch egal, warum man eine Frage stellt: vielleicht kommt man ja damit immerhin der Frage näher.
Der Autor lehrt als Lecturer für Philosophie an der Uni Cambridge und fährt eine Ducati. Ride on!
